Continuous learning is critical, therefore it is important that along with education, you should be skilled enough to sustain in a rapidly evolving job market. Whatever profession you go for, application of technology is absolutely essential. Therefore remember, for success in your profession, try to adopt technology wherever possible.

Indian youth has the potential to make India a global superpower. We have been leading in the forefront in so many sectors. In the last few years, India has seen transformative growth and digital transformation is one such element. India’s digital transformation is powered by its unshakeable belief in innovation and its commitment to speedy implementation. India's Digital Public Infrastructure offers scalable, secure and inclusive solutions for global challenges. Aadhar card, CoWIN, UPI are just some of the successful examples of India’s digital growth.

The new education system in India, i.e National Education Policy 2020 envisions a multidisciplinary approach along with a major focus on research and innovation. I urge our young people to get themselves involved in Research and Development in different fields as it is the backbone of a globally competitive, knowledge-driven economy. Promoting Innovation through R&D will help to develop new products and services that drive growth, create jobs, and improve the national welfare. Investing in research and development ensures high market participation. This vision is propelled by several advantages that it possesses, making it a promising destination for innovation and production. Innovation rules the future of work in all sectors in the next decade. Skill-based learning has become a necessity today as we live in an era of unprecedented transformation. The advent of new technology has led us into a growth-driven era full of opportunities.

We need both knowledge creation and also impart high end future skills at our universities. Of late, there have been attempts to transform the traditional higher education system into a skill-based one. The National Education Policy 2020 emphasizes practical, hands-on skilling rather than classroom-based learning. Today, skilling has become an integral part of education and curriculum. We need to understand the difference between skill-based and knowledge-based education. The latter involves understanding concepts whereas the former aims to channelize education into a practical form to find solutions. India is looking for talented people who can innovate, are open to learning and re-learning, can apply their knowledge practically and will also upskill themselves.

I must tell you that AICTE is taking various new initiatives for skill development and skill integration in the education system. AICTE has more than 3600 engineering colleges with 1 million engineers passing out every year. The research and innovation initiatives have taken roots in AICTE approved Institutions. I am aware that SPIT in collaboration with IBM has initiated Innovation Centre for Education, a ‘unique global initiative’ to offer much needed applied information technology knowledge to graduating students, in various dominant and futuristic technology areas.

In an effort towards establishing Industry-Academia collaboration, AICTE does not hesitate in joining hands with tech giants like Adobe, IBM, Amazon, Salesforce, Cisco, Meta etc. The only purpose is to equip our students with advanced technology and make them job ready. Recently we signed a MoU with Apna, India’s leading jobs and professional networking platform, with an aim to transform the job placement landscape for college graduates. The partnership will ensure that any fresher graduating from an Engineering, Diploma or Management institute will gain access to placement services independent of their college or city.

Moreover, AICTE’s courses in emerging areas like semiconductors, advanced telecommunications like 5G and beyond; logistics etc. is an important initiative to equip students and faculty with the necessary digital skills to adapt to the rapidly changing demands of the 21st-century economy. The initiative encompasses a range of online courses in programming, data analytics, artificial intelligence, and machine learning. These courses are meticulously designed to provide students with industry-relevant skills, thereby improving the employability and competitiveness of students in the job market.

As you are ready to explore job areas, I would like to highlight AICTE's Internship and Placement portal. Do check these portals, as they cater to a wide range of job and internship opportunities for young graduates. AICTE internship portal has over 4 crore registered students with over 75,000 companies offering internships. In the placement portal more than 2,000 companies are offering jobs particularly for students located in rural and tribal areas.

AICTE is instrumental in promoting the regional languages. AICTE E-Kumbh portal is offering technical books Hindi and other regional languages. At e-Kumbh you can access the technical course books in regional languages for free. We did so because when you think in your mother tongue, your ideas will be much better and sharper, fostering greater innovation. Apart from this very recently we launched the AICTE VAANI scheme to promote Indian languages among faculty members and students for an effective teaching learning process. VAANI stands for Vibrant Advocacy for Advancement and Nurturing of Indian Languages. Under the scheme we will be providing financial assistance to AICTE approved Institutions for conducting conferences/seminars/workshops in emerging fields of technical education in 12 regional languages - Gujarati, Marathi, Telugu, Tamil, Punjabi, Bengali, Kannada, Assamese, Malayalam, Odia, Urdu & Hindi. In total, an amount of Rs 2 crore will be reimbursed by AICTE to Institutions for conducting 100 conferences annually. The purpose we launched this scheme is to help in creating a knowledge base in the local language, which will further encourage creation of a treasure of latest technical knowledge incorporating the newest developments in regional languages. This scheme will also promote promotion of the research papers in the regional languages and further enhance the collaboration between Institutions and Industry. Moreover, it will also remove the dilemma regarding giving preference to only the English language rather than vernacular languages. The importance of regional languages or mother tongues in education will ensure cultural diversity of the nation.

At AICTE, our vision is to provide transformative education to students, to create leaders and innovators, and generate new knowledge for a sustainable society. AICTE has a tremendous role to play as a partner of a new knowledge economy to inspire, create and move our society forward.

As you receive your degrees today, remember that they symbolize more than just academic achievements. They signify your potential to make a meaningful impact in the world and to shape the future for generations to come. So go forth with confidence, courage, and conviction, knowing that you have the power to create a brighter tomorrow.

Once again, congratulations to the graduates of Sardar Patel Institute of Technology. May your futures be filled with endless possibilities, and may you continue to inspire others with your passion, dedication, and excellence. Good luck and good health to all of you.
