  • A System and method for fracking of shale rock using shock wave
Date of filing in India: 15.10.2013
    Patent Application no.: 4633/CHE/2013
    Deferment filed for six months April 08, 2015 4633/CHE/2013 April 09,2015; PCT/IN2015/000166.
The proposed technique intends to produce new fractures in the oil-bearing shale rock formation using the shock waves. A shock tube is a tool which generates shock waves which can be placed either inside the wellbore or on the ground surface. Applicants: G Jagadeesh, T G Sitharam; KPJ Reddy and KB Akhilesh (IISc, Bangalore).

  • A System And Method For Increasing Yield Of A Depleted Borewell By Using Shock
Applicants: KPJ Reddy, T G Sitharam and Vivek,P. Patent
    Application no: IP -1371-IN-10960-PPA-2014:
Many borewells get abandoned due to low yield or dry out. The efficiency of the wells gets reduced over time by indicating a low specific capacity or yield. It is economically not feasible and practically impossible to abandon them and start with a new borewell. It is possible that these borewells can be rejuvenated. A new technique is proposed here to increase the yield of a well with the application of shock waves. Shock waves are generated using a shock tube on the surface and directed into the borewell. The high pressure behind the shock wave traveling into the borewell acts normal to the walls of the borewell and helps in clearing the clogged up water channels (fissures, fractures, etc.) present in rock formations and thereby allowing the water to flow easily into the well
