Irrigation works: Krishna Bhagya Jala Nigam Limited (Karnataka Govt.): Investigations on the stability issues and failures of canal slopes of NLBC in UKP.
National Aluminum Company (NALCO), Damanjodi and Angul: Failure investigations of ash dyke, Inspection and monitoring of ash pond and red mud pond dykes, safety issues in dam maintenance, and design of further raising of earthen and ash bunds. Works include site inspections during construction, quality control issues, etc. Several failures of ash dykes were investigated and remedial measures were also suggested.
For NMDC major works involving soil-nailing techniques, reinforced earth walls and slope stability analysis for structures of Bailadilla iron ore deposits Nos 10, 11, and the new one 11B. Instead of conventional concrete structure it was suggested to go for soil nailed / reinforced earth retaining walls. This scheme worked out lot cheaper than conventional RCC structures. Also many slope stability measures have been suggested using Reinforced earth concept to NALCO at their Bailadilla Iron ore project site and Mining areas.
FOR RITES, Vetting the design of highest reinforced earth railway embankment in Jammu & Kashmir, 70m tall. Vetting of reinforced earth structures for many agencies such Ms/ Venktapathy Raju constructions, AFCONS Infrastructure, Feedback ventures, etc. Vetting of Arch span bridges for Reinforced Earth Company, ATES- Soil reinforcement division, etc.
(Selected major projects are explained in detail)
Prof. Sitharam T G is a consultant to M/S AFCONS infrastructure Pvt Ltd (m/S CBPU) since Jan 2005 to the present time for the heighest elevated bridge in the world. He has extensively The Chenab river forms about 360m deep gorge in a V-shaped valley in the area between Bakkal and Kauri villages. The width of the river is about 150 m at river bed level and the level of river bed is 488 m. The railway link between Katra and Laole section in Jammu and Kashmir has been planned to have a steel arch bridge on Chenab river with around 950m span at a height of 360m. The rail track level on the proposed bridge will be at RL 856m. The bridge is under construction and once constructed it will be the world’s highest elevated bridge.
